You can now view the Cowans | Clark | DelVecchio auction online by clicking here for the May 17 sale. Included are works by Coper, Rie, Karnes, Takaezu, Lucero, Mason and features of exceptional works by Peter Voulkos. One of the auction’s gems, literally and figuratively is Adrian Saxe’s Dents de la Mer (90-165) 1990. This technical tour de force with its bejeweled gourd shape evokes an exotic but dangerous naval mine and could be something conjured by the Russian jeweler Carl Faberge. Stones are real 10mm tourmalines. On Dents de la Mer (90-165) 1990, the 10mm tourmalines are real gemstones. It was exhibited on One Person Exhibition, Garth Clark Gallery, NY 1990 and “The Clay Art of Adrian Saxe” touring retrospective and book with full page color detail leading page for essay “Adrian Saxe and the Postmodern Vessel” by Jim Collins. If you would like information about the current auctions or want to consign to future sales, do contact Mark Del Vecchio.
