Nino Caruso Lecture
Interlocking Interstices: Wednesday, July 28 with Garth Clark at New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe

Garth Clark speaks on the life and work of Nino Caruso, the Italian master ceramic sculptor (and a longtime friend) at the St. Francis Auditorium of the New Mexico Museum of Art Wednesday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m. Now in his eighties, Caruso remains one of Italy’s most inventive and significant sculptors. The lecture deals with Caruso’s art and the growth of a vital ceramic art movement that emerged in Italy during the 1950’s and 1960’s, informally lead by Lucio Fontana. Jointly presented by The New Mexico Museum of Art and the 222 Shelby Street Gallery. Admission is free. Do join Garth afterwards for cheese and wine at 222 Shelby Street Gallery and preview Caruso’s exhibition of work he made last summer (sculpture and monoprints) in Santa Fe. Shown at left: Nino Caruso, “The Strips Man,” 2009, terracotta, white slip, acrylic 21”h x 18”w x 10”d. Call 505 476-5068 for more information.
